P/T Health Care Administrator - £10 per hour + holiday pay


Job Share – 19 hours per week (Monday, Tuesday and Half Day Wednesday)


BUT you must be available to work at least 25 hours a week for the first 4 – 6 weeks whilst training.

We are looking for an experienced Health Care Administrator with knowledge of EMIS to join a busy team within a Hospice in North West London.

Health Care Administrator duties will include (but may not be limited to):

  • Provide front line reception service for the Day Therapy Unit

  • Deal with telephone enquiries ensuring confidentiality is adhered to at all times

  • Support the smooth running of the DTU clinics through liaison with external healthcare providers, patients and staff

  • Liaise with patients to arrange their first appointment and send documentation

  • Ensure all necessary clinical information is in place prior to patients appointments including blood results, external clinical letters

  • Follow up clinic sessions by collating tests

  • Book and coordinate transport

  • Liaise with external palliative care teams and other health care providers on DTU referrals

  • Register new patients on PalCare/EMIS and create patient folders

  • Record and maintain all patient activities on PalCare/EMIS

  • Update and retrieve information from other systems

  • Ensure all patient records referred to DTU are up to date and all information is accurate

  • Provide a comprehensive administrative service to the DTU nursing team – making calls, drafting letters, booking rooms

  • Prepare PalCare/EMIS reports

  • Ensure Admin volunteers working for DTU are supervised and managed

  • Responsible to undertake DBS applications

  • Maintain and manage the stationary supply

  • Maintain accurate and up to date records of nursing annual leave, sickness and training

  • File, fax, scan and photocopy as and when required


The successful Health Care Administrator will have:

  • Excellent administrative experience

  • Health Care experience

  • Knowledge of EMIS

  • Good communication skills both verbal & written

  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Word & Excel

  • Good attention to detail
