Reconciliation Officer - £14.17 per hour + holiday pay

Immediate start – 2 month booking with view to extend

We are looking for an experienced Reconciliation Officer to provide financial accounting and reconciliation of all Environment income based in Lambeth.

Duties will include (but not be limited to):

  • Reconcile payments received from all income streams across the Environment portfolio
  • Monitor invoices ensuring details reconcile & irregularities are addressed
  • Provide evidence for discrepancies with Income, ensuring that all changes to income are recorded in the correct manner, and brought to the attention of the Senior Reconciliation Officer
  • Ensure strict audit and anti-fraud processes are in place, providing information and assistance to the Council’s Internal and External Auditors when required
  • Assist in the administration and auditing of Purchase Orders
  • Take day to day responsibility for the processing of all refunds, ensuring they are processed in accordance with Service Level Agreements, policies and procedures, working with Corporate Finance, Auditors and Reconciliation, to ensure audit compliance
  • Build and maintain healthy working relationships across Environment/CHE as well as with other key stakeholders, monitoring performance as and when required
  • Assist with providing audit spot checks at the Customer Service Centres and all other Environment income collection points, reporting all financial irregularities at the appropriate level
  • Ensure that all financial documents are complete, accurate, stored and archived in accordance with statutory and records management requirements
  • Provide advice to internal and external customers, in line with financial regulations and the data protection act, protecting sensitive financial and personal data at all times
  • Respond to payment related queries raised by internal and external customers
  • Assist in the taking and processing of payments
  • To work flexibly in undertaking the duties and responsibilities of this job, and participate as required in multi-disciplinary cross-department and cross-organisational groups and task teams

The successful Reconciliation Officer will have:

Local Authority experience

  • A recognised accountant qualification or be actively studying for AAT
  • Knowledge of the Parking and Environmental Legislation and Codes of Practice
  • Experience of providing income and budget analysis for management and decision making
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience using Oracle system or other accounting software
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written
