Customer Service Advisor (Contact Centre) - £10.64 ph + holiday pay

Temp role – immediate start to April 2018 with view to extend


We are looking for a Customer Services Officer with Housing Benefit experience to be able to support and give advice to customers.


Duties will include:

  • Providing advice, information and assistance with enquiries relating to customer services
  • Representing the council by providing first contact resolution to customers, maintaining the highest standards of customer care at all time
  • Providing advice and applying sound judgement in assessing customer needs
  • Resolving all enquiries on first contact with the customer and identify and carry out actions needed to lead to resolution
  • Directing customers enquiries with speed and accuracy
  • Operating a number of office systems including Microsoft word, excel and councils email systems
  • Operating professionally both as an individual and as a team member for the benefit of the customer at all times, regularly contributing ideas, suggestions and feedback to team leaders thus providing a valuable contribution to the effectiveness and continued success of the service both locally and overall
  • Accountable for the accurate and timely recording of information on systems in accordance with protocols for data entry and compliance with performance indicators and effectively use and operate the relevant ICT systems
  • Supporting/assisting team members to ensure targets are met


We are looking for candidates with:

  • Local Authority experience
  • Housing Benefit and Northgate experience
  • Ability to effectively resolve customer enquiries, requests, complaints or transactions and deal with a high volume of customer contact via various access channels
  • Up to date knowledge of Housing Benefit legislation
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
